1) Recognition - Names - Country of Origin
The Nugget Kangaroo coin, as the name suggests, is manufactured in Australia. The responsible entity for its production is the Perth Mint, the official Australian government mint. In the early years, different gold nuggets adorned the coin until they were replaced by various kangaroo motifs in 1990. Due to this change in design, the name was officially changed to "Australian Kangaroo" in 2008. However, the older name "Nugget" is still used in the bullion market. The Nugget/Kangaroo is one of the best-selling investment gold coins in the world.

2) Coin Description
As mentioned earlier, the coin featured a nugget (gold nugget) on the obverse side from 1986 to 1989, which was replaced by a kangaroo in annually changing designs from 1990 onwards. Until 2007, the inscription read "The Australian Nugget," and from 2008 onwards, it reads "The Australian Kangaroo." The current design on the obverse side also displays the minting year and the fineness of gold, presented as "2012 1 oz 9999 GOLD." The design for the denominations larger than one ounce is consistent and features the so-called "Red Kangaroo." On the reverse side, like all coins of the Commonwealth, the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is engraved.

The Nugget Kangaroo is legal tender in Australia and has a face value of 100 AUD for the 1-ounce coin. The face value of the three larger Kangaroo coins was reduced in 1992. The intrinsic value of bullion coins is generally much higher than their face value.

The Nugget Kangaroo was minted in proof quality from 1986 to 2005. Since 1987, brilliant uncirculated editions have been produced. The kilo coin is produced based on demand and is therefore unlimited. In contrast, the smaller denominations are limited as follows: (1 ounce: 350,000 pieces, 1/2 ounce: 100,000 pieces, 1/4 ounce: 150,000 pieces, 1/10 ounce: 200,000 pieces). All coins from the Perth Mint are delivered in coin capsules. From 1986 to 1999, these capsules were rectangular, and from 2000 onwards, they switched to a round coin capsule. Of course, there are also special editions of this coin, such as Proof and Mintmark Nuggets, as well as collector editions in boxes and specially curated sets with limited editions not exceeding a few hundred pieces.
