1) Recognition - Name - Country of Origin
The British Royal Mint is laying the foundation for a new bullion coin series featuring 10 designs inspired by the nearly 2-meter-high heraldic creatures that were created in plaster and installed in front of Westminster Abbey to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
These 10 creatures have served as models for a multitude of decorative and design objects, such as stamps issued by the Royal Mail, candle holders, cutlery, and porcelain figurines.

2) Description of the Coin
On the obverse (front) of the coin, the creature is depicted in the center. Along the edge, starting from the bottom left, the name of the coin, the weight, and the fineness of the coin are inscribed, with the minting year at the end. For example, in the case of a one-ounce coin of the first edition featuring the Lion: LION OF ENGLAND - 1 oz FINE GOLD . 999.9 . 2016. On the reverse (back) of the coin, like all coins of the Commonwealth, the portrait of the reigning monarch is struck. The edge of the coin bears the inscription: 100 POUNDS - ELIZABETH II - D - G - REG - F - D. The edge of the coin is milled.

The coin series "The Queen's Beast" is an official legal tender and has a face value of 100 British Pounds.

In addition to the first edition in 2016, featuring the English Lion, the following creatures will be released in the subsequent years: the Griffin of Edward III, the Falcon from the House of Plantagenet, the Black Bull of the Duke of Clarence, the Antelope or Yale from the House of Beaufort, the White Lion of the Mortimer Family, the White Greyhound of Richmond, the Red Dragon of Wales, the Scottish Unicorn, and the White Horse from the House of Hanover.
