Armenia Noah´s Ark

1) Recognition - Names - Country of Origin
The Silver Investment Coin Noah's Ark from Armenia was first introduced in 2011. The motif for the bullion coin was chosen based on the well-known biblical story of Noah and his Ark. According to the biblical narrative, the historical Noah's Ark is said to have stranded on Mount Ararat or in its vicinity after the flood. The silver coin is minted with a fineness of 999/1000 by Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung (LEV) in Germany.

2) Coin Description
The front side (obverse) of the silver coin features the coat of arms of Armenia. In addition, the nominal value, purity, fine weight, the stamp of Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung (LEV), and the minting year can be seen. The bullion coin has a bilingual inscription in English and Armenian. The back side (reverse) of the coin showcases a finely designed image of the namesake Noah's Ark. In the background, Mount Ararat with the rising sun is visible. That's where Noah and his Ark ended their journey. Additionally, there is an image of a dove with an olive branch, symbolizing the end of the flood. The inscription "NOAH'S ARK" is also bilingual, similar to the front. The edge of the coin is reeded and does not have any inscription.

The coins are official legal tender in Armenia. The face value of the individual silver coins currently ranges from 100 to 20,000 Armenian Dram (AMD). As is common with bullion coins, the nominal value is significantly higher than the silver content.

5) Special Features - Minting Years - History - Mintage
This silver investment coin is known as an agency minting. The Republic of Armenia (Central Bank of Armenia) is the issuer of the coin. Leipziger Edelmetallverarbeitung (LEV) is responsible for the production and worldwide distribution. Similar to many bullion coins, the Armenian silver coin features a consistently recurring motif each year. The reason for choosing the biblical story as the motif is its connection to Armenian history. Until 1920, Mount Ararat was mostly located within Armenian territory. The border between the poorest economy in the Caucasus and Turkey ran right over the summit of the mountain. After World War I, Armenia was divided between the Soviet Union and Turkey, with the entire mountain falling under Turkish control. As a result, Mount Ararat is no longer part of Armenia on maps. However, it remains an important part of national identity and is still symbolically featured in Armenia's coat of arms. The Noah's Ark silver coin was first introduced in 2011. Since the end of 2011/2012, coins in sizes of 1/4, 1/2, 5, and 10 ounces, as well as 1 and 5 kilograms, have been issued. Over 300,000 coins were sold in the first year of issue. The silver ounces are packaged in tubes containing 20 coins each. 25 tubes are sold in a high-quality wooden master box, totaling 500 silver ounces. Smaller denominations are individually packaged in coin foils.
