Australia Lunar Series RAM

This new coin series from the Royal Australian Mint, available in both silver and gold, was launched in 2020. Similar to other Lunar series from different mints, this series, as the name suggests, follows the Lunar calendar, specifically the Chinese zodiac signs.

What sets this series apart is its limited mintage. The gold ounces are restricted to just 5,000 pieces worldwide, while the silver ounces are limited to 50,000 pieces. This classification makes these coins investment coins with collectible value.

In the year of issue, these coins are only slightly more expensive than comparable bullion coins like the Maple Leaf, Krugerrand, or Kangaroo. However, they have the potential to gain significant value over the years for two main reasons. Firstly, the mintage is relatively low, and secondly, the "desirability factor" among collectors typically increases in the following years. Even if the second point doesn't apply, you still have an elegantly designed silver coin made of fine silver that will always retain its intrinsic silver value.
